Pres. P. Danik called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. and Sec. A. Born

Youngblood’s Moto-History updates that is www.motohistory. net a motion was
made by S. Brogan to accept the minutes and the motion was seconded by James
Borer and all were in favor of the motion. D. Wilford gave the membership
report showing 4 new members, one coming off the expired list, 18 renewals,
7 being for 2 years, and the sale of two ‘73 6-Day DVDs. We still have 408
active members as 4 were moved to the expired list. A. Buehner gave the
Treasurers report as of 12/31/06. Alan stated that he soon will be
presenting his 2006 financial records to the accountant for the yearly
audit. Alan also stated that Feb. 20th is the deadline for receiving
articles for the Spring Newsletter that will contain pictures and an article
about “Penton Day at the AMA” on Feb. 3rd. It was also reported that 10
complimentary copies of the Winter Newsletter were sent to the Mungenast
Museum to be used as they see fit. Bill Smith stated that things are going
well as for keeping “Pentons” the main subject on the site. Bill also
mentioned that our Web-site domain names were up for renewal at a fee of
$16.65 for the year. J. Grakauskas made a motion to continuously renew them
on a yearly basis and James Borer seconded the motion and the motion
carried.
John Borer gave the E-Bay report that has been shortened, due to space, as
Dec. was a very busy month. Some of the items sold were: an early Penton
steel gas tank in fair condition had 36 bids for $179.50, a nice 125 Sachs
kick lever had 7 bids for $154.38, a set of NOS Penton handlebars had 8 bids
for $152.50, a well used 125 CMF exhaust pipe had 14 bids for $127.50 and a
1966 letter from Edison Dye to Gunnar Klintman of the Husky export dept.
stating that John Penton had won the overall at the Jack-Pine Enduro as the
only Husky entry had 1 bid and sold on “Buy it Now” for $100.00. Also, a NOS
Sachs 125 head for a high pipe engine had 3 bids for $256.00, a NOS set of
100/125 engine cases, still in the box, had 4 bids for $316.89, a NOS Sachs
125 cc cylinder had 10 bids for $557.86 and a NOS Penton/KTM 250cc engine
had 20 bids and sold for $2550.00
Ed Youngblood stated that the Steel Tank Book Committee had met earlier for
2 hours and that he will soon be writing the introductory chapters with the
help of D. Wilford and A. Born. Ed also stated that the John Penton book is
now out of print, but that he has the publishing rights as long as 4 minor
changes were made such as taking the Whitehorse name off it. James Borer
made a motion that we have 1000 more copies printed and the motion was
seconded by Paul Busick but after a short discussion on possibly getting
them printed in a hard-back edition, depending on pricing, A. Buehner made a
motion to table the previous motion until Ed gets the pricing on the
hard-back edition. Paul Busick also seconded this motion and the motion
carried.
Paul stated that Dave Duarte and Carl Cranke from Calif. will be the main
speakers for our “Penton Day at the AMA” meeting. POG will be providing
rooms for them. Paul stated that Ted and Connie Del Solar would be tending
the sign-in book and Buehners Office Supply will again be furnishing the
pizza for lunch. Paul will be checking on getting lights and mikes again and
the AMA always rents the chairs. Paul urged everyone to bring their Pentons
for display, especially any 250 cc Hare Scramblers. Scott says he is trying
to get the ’07 shirts finished in time for this meeting.
Under old business, J. Grakauskas stated that Jan. 15th is the deadline for
the AHRMA balloting.
Under new business, Alan read a letter from the Packard Museum in Warren,
Oh. announcing their 7th annual antique motorcycle show that will run from
Jan. 6th until the end of May. Tom Brosius is making “Penton Skulldanas” and
he sent one for John, so watch for “John the Model” in the next Newsletter.
